Carlos Murgia

Carlos Murgia was born in Kansas City, Kansas and graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in 1979. He also received his law degree from KU in 1982. He was in private practice until he became a Kansas state district judge in 1990, a position he served in until 1999. He was nominated to the United States District Court by President Bill Clinton in 1999 and still serves in that position. Judge Murguia is the first Hispanic to serve as a federal district judge in Kansas.
